The Original Mark
The work of Donald R. Anderson is a study in the intersection of disciplined structure and the unscripted mark. While his professional life was spent in the digital ether of IT and systems optimization, his creative roots began much earlier, behind the lens of a camera.
A lifelong photographer, Anderson’s eye was trained early alongside his father, capturing the formal rhythms of community directories and the high-stakes timing of weddings. This foundation in photography, the art of finding a “perspective,” remains the cornerstone of his practice today. That instinct was later refined through formal study in street photography with Charlie Cawley, author of Scene: St. Augustine, deepening Anderson’s eye for the unscripted moments found in everyday places.
